Brown's store, gas station and US Post Office. The name originally selected for Hilton was "Pottery," due to the clay found in the area. But Louis Ridenhour decided to call it "Hilton" after his son who was born in 1868. Photo taken in 1937. The post office was established in 1894 and closed in 1953.

The Hilton Resort was originally operated by Louis W. Ridenhour's daughter, Emily Brown, after the death of her husband. In 1953, the resort was called Hilton Grove and was operated by Dorie Ann Konkel. She ran it for 16 years until she died from breathing smoke during a fire at the restaurant, bar and store.
